I have learned much in these first seven days of not-drinking-in-January—namely, that it would be way easier to swallow the reality of my shitty academic performance if I could also drink many glasses of wine. If I were as good at writing essays as I am at stubbornly keeping month-long sobriety bets, then I wouldn’t have such terrible grades!
